 Best of the Best

Intex Excursion 5, 5-Person Inflatable Boat Set with Aluminium Oars and High Output Air Pump

Rating : 4.7/5

Why is it Our Top Pick ?

If its price and utility were placed on two sides of a beam balance, utility would certainly outweigh the price.

We have picked the best out of the rest by taking all aspects in to consideration. That is why our top pick has it all- not just a specific feature. So go ahead, scroll down and see for yourself whether this could be your top pick as well.

  • Ever had to leave behind a bestie? Or tired of taking turns on rides? Not anymore. The Intex Excursion 5 is large and made to fit 5 people, which is one of its huge pluses!
  • Ever had to swim back for life? Won’t happen again. This boat comes with 3 air chambers, including one in the hull. They keep the boat floating even if it punctures unexpectedly.
  • Sick of wasting time on a tempting sunny day? Grab this boat and put an end to your worries. With 2 Boston valves on the main hull chambers, inflating and deflating takes no time at all!
  • Love rowing, but never had enough oars? Consider the problem solved. Intex Excursion 5 comes with 2 oar locks and Aluminium oars on either side- so you get to row too
  • Safe and sound, roomy, comfortable, convenient and much, much more!

Specifications

From what we’ve seen and heard, Intex Excursion 5 is a whale: 24 x 12 x 22 inches and has enough room for a family of 5 and of course for your little puppy that always wants to tag along.

It weighs up to 58 pounds and can carry a maximum capacity of 1000 pounds. The heavy duty, abrasion resistant PVC bottom and high quality 30-gauge vinyl covering would set your mind at ease while you fish or enjoy the day at the deepest or the shallowest corner of a river or lake.

Features

Everything is inflatable, even the seats, which make them a comfortable resting place for your bottom. The l-Beam floor is inflatable too, and ensures much needed stability when you’re on board. However, the airy nature of this boat concerns us about its suitability for white water rafting. But we can confidently assure you that it is specialized for class 1 and perhaps class 2 rivers.

This boat includes 4 fishing rod holders which would be just perfect for your fishing journey. It also has 2 Boston valves on its main hull chambers to make the whole task of inflating much easier. By using the manual pump that comes as a part of the package, it takes about 15-20 minutes to set it up. But an electric pump would get the job done in just 5 minutes!

If you’re wondering about how to get the boat to your favourite fishing spot, it is also quite easy. While deflated, the shrunken boat becomes the right size to be carried in your compact car.

The Aluminium oars that come with the boat are great, but not of the highest quality. Let’s be realistic here because for the price, we shouldn’t be asking for the moon.

Warranty

The warranty lasts for two whole years from the date of purchase. It covers manufacturer’s defects given that you secure the original receipt together with the owner’s manual.

Safety

In the process of winning customer hearts, Intex have taken safety measures as well. In addition to including 3 air chambers, repair patch, an all-around grab line, it is tested and approved by the US Coast Guards.

Verdict

Intex Excursion 5 would be a smart choice for anyone from a family longing for a holiday on water, to a group of 2 to 3 fishermen with an entire kit of fishing equipment. For a boat completely filled with air, it is surprisingly strong, sturdy, durable and safe. When compared to its utility, it is definitely cheap and we have no reason to hesitate recommending this boat.

So here we go.

- Intex Excursion 4, 4-Person Inflatable Boat Set -

Being the younger version of Intex Excursion 5, this boat has a portion of all its features and deserves to go right in to your must-buy list.

Intex Excursion 4, 4-Person Inflatable Boat Set with Aluminium Oars and High Output Air Pump

Rating : 4.5/5

If you are a group of 4 or less, looking for a comfy ride on a boat with everything from rod holders to gear pouch to all around grab line and chairs with backrests, Intex Excursion 4 could be your ideal choice.

Much similar to Intex Excursion 5, but has a couple of features unique to itself.

Specifications

Second in size only to the Excursion 5, this boat has a length of 10 feet and a width of about 5.5 feet. Though it weighs 51 pounds, it can carry up to 4 persons with a total weight of 880 pounds. Engineered with strong 30-gauge vinyl, and an inflatable l-Beam floor, the Intex Excursion 4 is powerful enough to stay afloat on a balmy, serene day.

The boat also contains 3 air chambers for buoyancy, 2 inflatable seats with backrests for convenience, and 2 Boston valves for inflation.

Features

You can multitask aboard- sit back and relax, but still reel a big fish by using the 2 fishing rod holders- one on each side. Though an anchor is not included in the package, which is of course reasonable for the price, if bought would make fishing much easier.

Oar holders and oar locks, together with 54 inch long Aluminium oars, would help you move around even if you don’t have a motor mount and a 3HP motor.

Quality-wise, the boat is a dream for the price and is durable enough to be used for years to come. Portability and set up too, are easy and it includes a repair patch kit,a hand pump, and a gear pouch.

Warranty

Warranty covers manufacturer’s defects only for 30 days from the date of purchase. Any defects due to poor handling and excessive use are not covered by this.

We suggest you have a close look at the conditions of your warranty before you make a buy.

Safety

Approved by the US Coast Guards and the NMMA,

Intex Excursion 4 is safe and would make it back to the shore on time by using its 3 air chambers, should it rapture.

There is also a grab line all around the boat which you can hold on to, in case of a strong wind.

The Bottom Line

Whether you are a person looking to sail away from a hectic life, or an angler excited for a day out fishing, Intex Excursion 4 is a highly recommended boat for you. If you buy it, the chances are, you might fall in love with it at first sight.

Accommodates 4 people with ease and of course, you can get a whole bunch of features for a song.

Intex Seahawk 4, 4-Person Inflatable Boat Set with Aluminium Oars and High Output Air Pump review

Rating : 4.3/5

Seahawk 4 is much similar to Excursion 4 but is smaller in size, comfort and price. Would be ideal if you’re on a budget and running out of storage space.

Though this boat too lacks an anchor, it still would be a great choice to go after some stubborn bass on still water with its aluminium oars for rowing and sturdy nature for staying afloat.

Specifications

The boat is pretty big at 138" L x 57" W x 19" H and can carry a load of 880 lbs. Unlike in Excursion 4, this has only 2 air chambers, but well worth the money. It also has 2 Boston valves, a grab handle and an all around grab line.

An air pump, a repair patch kit, and gear pouch are some of the accessories that come with the boat.

Features

Designed to fit a group of 4 average sized bodies, the boat can either be used for fishing or holidaying or both. For holidaying, welded oar locks along with the aluminium oars, though not of the highest quality, would help you glide through water while you enjoy the ride on the comfy inflated seats. If needed, you can buy a motor mount along with the boat so that you can fix your 3HP motor and speed up.

If angling is your thing, then the 2 rod holders could make your day! You can carry along your anchor as well, to harbour the boat while you fish. Though not suitable for extreme weather conditions and strong winds, the boat is a dream on still waters.

Like every other boat we have discussed so far, Intex Seahawk 4 too, is fully inflatable. This makes the boat soft like a cushion.

While at the same time, the super tough 30-gauge PVC vinyl of the boat makes it sturdy and strong as an ox. It also functions perfectly on warm water, gasoline, oil or salt water which would definitely set your mind at ease.

Warranty

The warranty lasts for 2 years and like in most cases, it covers only the manufacturer’s defects. Just to be on the safe side, double check with the terms and conditions of your warranty before you buy.

Safety

TUV approved and safety is ensured with features like an all around grab line, safety air chambers and more.

Verdict

Apart from lacking the highest of quality, on the whole, the Intex Seahawk 4 is a great value for the money. For those looking for the maximum fun with family or friends, but with a shallow pocket, the Intex Seahawk 4 would be an ideal choice

Looking for a not-too-spacious, cheap, but one of the highest quality boats out there? Then this one is for you.

Intex Explorer 300, 3-Person Inflatable Boat Set review

Rating : 4.4/5

Lower the price, lower the quality is not a smart concept because it is certainly not applicable here. Intex Explorer 300 is simply impressive and is just the perfect boat for an outing with loved ones. Kids would go crazy as it is safe, stable, and has enough room for 3.

Specifications

Strongly built with 15 vinyl gauge to be stable on water, Intex Explorer 300 can carry 3 persons with a total weight of 410 lbs. It measures up to 83" L x 46" W x 16" H in size and is as light as a feather for a boat. This makes portability the least of your concerns.

Safety is optimized with dual air chambers and a grab rope on the bow. Inflating and deflating takes no time at all with the provided air pump. To add further joy to this small package, the boat comes with 2 welded oar locks and 2 high quality 48” French oars.

Features

Let’s get this straight, for this price, you can’t be expecting all the handy-dandy features. So here is what Intex Explorer 300 offers.

If you take angling as serious as breathing, then this is not the boat for you. Intex designed this boat to give you a whale of a time on a pool, calm rivers, and lakes. Surprisingly, would even fit to hit the beach for a family time with the kids.

It is durable, which means you can have it for a quarter of your lifetime. And it is safe, which means you can sit back and enjoy while you, or your kids are on it.

Warranty

You can claim on your warranty only within 30 days of purchase. To do so, the boat should be unused- meaning that you should inspect the boat thoroughly with your eyes open wide.

Safety

Certified by the US Coast Guards. In addition to its overall strength, safety features include 2 air chambers and a grab rope.

The Bottom Line

Though ideally not made for serious fishing, Intex Explorer 300 promises a great time on water whether it is for rowing, fishing or simply enjoying the nature

Designed to fit 3 people, more like 2 adults or 1 adult with 2 kids, for the quality it is definitely dirt cheap. We won’t hesitate recommending the Intex Explorer 300 boat for you.

Everything from air pump to French oars to all around grab line and more-
Challenger 2 is a real bargain.

Intex Challenger 2, 2-Person Inflatable Boat Set with French Oars and High Output Air Pump REVIEW

Rating : 4.4/5

The price of Challenger 2 is a peanut when compared to what it offers. Everything about it screams leisure and fun.

You can use it on class 1 rapids and even on extremely shallow water which means that you don’t have to worry about bumping into rocks and logs.

Suits anyone - including you and your partner to go on a romantic date and take your relationship to the next level.

Specifications

Big enough to fit 2 people under a total weight of 253 pounds, it measures up to 45" D x 86" W x 13" H. Surprisingly strong and sturdy as it’s engineered with 20-gauge super tough PVC vinyl.

The entire boat is inflatable, even the floor which makes it soft yet strong that it won’t pop easily. Inflating and deflating is not time consuming either as it comes with a High Output pump and 2 Boston valves. Safety too, is maintained very well for the price.

Features

Among its features are a grab handle, a grab line along the perimeter of the boat, welded oar locks, French oars and a repair patch kit.

Truth be told, you might have to consider replacing the oars as they are not of high quality. But even if you replace, your total spendings won’t be anywhere near buying another boat with the same features. And that is basically why the Intex Challenger 2 is highly recommended.

Warranty

Intex accepts unused boats due to manufacturer’s defects and that too only within 30 days of purchase.

Safety

While it is approved by the US Coast Guards and TUV, the Challenger 2 is built by taking safety in to consideration, even when the price is set low.

The Bottom Line

On so many levels, the Intex Challenger 2 boat is better for leisure than most boats available on the market.

Especially the price, which makes it affordable to any aquaholic. It can also resist gasoline, oil and salt water- which means that it can function normally under different kinds of pressure. Overall, would make a perfect buddy, should you consider buying.

Recreational angling couldn’t get any cheaper than the Seahawk 2.

Intex Seahawk 2, 2-Person Inflatable Boat Set review

Rating : 4.6/5

The designers of this boat targeted anglers like you, who crave peace at mind and some exciting boating experience. Price is set as a bonus for such a great boat.

The obvious reason that sets Challenger 2 apart from Seahawk 2 is that, this boat fits an angler’s expectations much better with 2 rod holders and motor mounting set up. It is also stronger and of better quality than most fishing boats.

Specifications

The Intex Seahawk 2 can fit two people but could restrict it to one fisherman with all his gear. A fully inflated boat reaches up to 93 inch x 45 inch x 16 inch in size and allows a maximum weight of 440 lbs on board.

For construction, 30 gauge vinyl have been used and it boasts of strength for an inflatable boat. The 2 fishing rod holders on either side of the boat, 3 air chambers including an inner auxiliary chamber inside the hull, welded oar locks and oar holders, are some of the specs that add delight to this package.

Features

Rowing for long hours could mean a lot of hard work, especially if you’re ageing. If so, the motor mount fitting allows you to fit a motor mount and a 3HP motor easily. Inflating, deflating and storing would be the least of your worries if you purchase this boat.

A close look at the Aluminium oars would tell you that they ain’t the best. But the job gets done just fine.

Warranty

Seahawk 2 has a 2-year warranty period during which you can claim on manufacturer’s defects.

Safety

Apart from being certified by the US Coast Guards, Seahawk 2 has 3 air chambers to ensure you make it back to shore in case of a leakage. You can also hold on to the all-around grab line for support.

The Bottom Line

You can get many things done by this boat- fishing, boating, crabbing- but above all, it promises joy. And with most of your worries put to rest by its features, you and your partner can sail away for a wonderful time of your lives

Wanna hit the waters with an impressive body? Then the Challenger 3 is ready!

Intex Challenger 3, 3-Person Inflatable Boat reviews

Rating : 4.4/5

Like the name suggests, Challenger 3 is a 3-person boat. To be more clear, it is actually only the body and doesn’t include any accessories or oars. But the whole point here is that for a decent price, you get a quality item.

Specifications

It weighs only around 12 pounds and while inflated reaches up to 138.2 x 57.1 x 18.9 inches. Would be a great fit for 3 kids, teens or for 2 anglers with their gear. However, the total weight shouldn’t exceed 560 pounds.

Made with 20 gauge PVC vinyl, it is strong and durable. Hitting an edge of a rock or a branch would not be an issue. It also has fittings for a motor mount, oar holders and oar locks, and an all- around grab line.

Features

Though oars aren’t provided, you can buy it along with the boat. A hand pump is not included either, so if you already have one it would be a plus. Inflating and deflating are a breeze with two Boston valves and at the same time 3 air chambers ensure safety while your kids row away on their favourite river or lake.

Warranty

Upon purchase, you get a 30-day warranty period to cover manufacturer’s defects. This may seem too short a period, so stay alert and inspect your boat well before usage.

Safety

All Intex products are certified by the US Coat Guards. Safety is further assured by the product’s safety features such as the grab line and air chambers.

The Bottom Line

Though many customers demand to include oars and an air pump to the package, we find the boat decent enough for the price. It certainly isn’t the highest quality of all. You might have a tough time if the wind decides to test your patience. But for those on a budget longing for water-fun, Challenger 3 will do.

Intex Mariner 4, 4-Person Inflatable Boat Set reviews

Rating : 4.2/5

The Intex Mariner 4 is the most expensive boat in our list, but well worth the price tag it comes with. The quality and 3 layers of separate materials used for constructions explain the reason behind its price. If you place quality above all, then we see no reason for you to be sceptical about this boat.

Specifications

While fully inflated, the boat is 57 inches wide, 129 inches long, and 19 inches high. It can accommodate 4 people with a total weight of 880 lbs. 3 layers of separate heavy duty vinyl have been used to build to ensure long life and to bring down the risk of punctures.

Features

One of the special features of this boat is that it has a heavy duty plastic floor. You can stand on your boat comfortably and move around. Further features include an all around grab line, rotating oar locks, oar holders and oars, grab handles, battery and gear pouches, motor mount fittings and much more.

Warranty

As usual, you will be covered with a warranty only against factory defects. But you ought to be quick because you get only a month to return defected items.

Safety

Safety is enhanced as it is certified by the National Marine Manufacturer's Association (NMMA) and the U.S. Coast Guards.

The Bottom Line

All in all, Intex Mariner 4 would be ideal for almost all of your must-do-on-water list. Though this is not the boat you should take with you for white water rafting, it is durable and sturdy on water. You don’t have to worry about boating on shallow water either, though not impossible, it would hardly puncture.

- Ultimate Buying Guide:
How to Choose the Best Inflatable Boat
-

Who says getting an inflatable boat is easy?

We do.

If you’re a buyer unsure of what to consider before investing in a boat, then allow us to shed some light. While it is not easy to assess what your individual needs are, we believe that we still can help you from loosing your shirt.

For a smart choice, jot down a smart list. In other words, get down all what you need and design an ‘imaginary boat’.

Then you’ll have a gross idea about your boat even before you start shopping. This would ultimately help you pick the ideal boat among all others.

Purpose

First and foremost, ask yourself why you need a boat for. Whether it is for recreational fishing, crabbing, shrimping, or for just plain fun during the weekend, you need to figure it out.

Certain boats come with many features while some with less. If you’re looking for long hours of angling then focus on a boat with rod holders, anchor, comfy chairs, etc. Likewise, take down a list of features that would serve your purpose.

Your budget

Your budget is another important fact to consider before you start shopping. If you aren’t planning to spend like water, then don’t have your expectations too high. The more you cut short your budget, the less features you will be offered. However, certain boats do offer a great value for a low price. Our best picks in this reviews are such boats and it would be a waste not to consider buying from this list.

Water body

Are you gonna take the boat to a nearby lake, pond or a river? Once decided, you need to check with the river rating. Most inflatables, specially the ones listed here are suitable only for class 1 rapids.

So do some research and find out what type of water you are going to deal with. Then you can match the rating with the inflatable you have chosen.

Capacity

Are you a loner or a social butterfly? Do you enjoy boating alone or with family and friends? If you’re the former, then a 1-2 person boat for you and your gear would do.

But if you’re the latter, go for a boat with a high capacity.

Storage

Most deflated boats require very little storage space. They can easily fit under your bed or some other corner. But some boats that have stronger floors might give you storage-trouble. That is why it is important to be cautious about this feature before you buy. There’s no point of regretting later.

Strength

The strength of an inflatable usually depends on the material being used for construction. In our review, vinyl had been the major input material for all inflatables. A boat with a higher gauges resembles a higher strength. A higher strength also means that it would perform well on shallow waters without being punctured easily.

Speed

Most inflatables are designed for rowing while some come with motor mount fittings as well. Rowing takes time and tends to slow down the speed of an inflatable. However, If you ain’t a big fan of rowing, or want to glide faster through water, and have the means of getting yourself with a motor, then go for an inflatable with the mounting fittings.

These are just a few major aspects that you might want to consider before buying an inflatable boat. This guide can go on and on, but we’ll have to stop right here. You can add or deduct more points in to your list. But no matter what you do, make your requirements crystal clear before you go cherry picking.

- 5 Handy Things to
Carry on Your Boat Trip
-

Sometimes you might hit the ocean without double checking your gear. There’s a lot of stuff that people don’t always think about when it comes to getting out and going for things and a slight inconvenience on land can be a big one when you’re hovering over the pelagic depths. Here’s five things you should make sure you’re never without when you’re out on your boat.

#1.  Drysack

Drysacks are an absolute necessity, especially for when you’re trying to get things to the boat. Stuff like towels and books getting wet can range from irritating to a complete disaster. Make the investment in a good quality one that closes well to protect your stuff, if you skimp out it’ll cost you more than the couple of dollars difference in the event of a serious wave.

It’s also a good idea to load your electronics into one if the sea gets rough. Keeping your valuables safe is always a good thing so be sure to snag a few for your trip.

#2. Water Bottles

It’s always a good thing to bring some extra water when you set out, and water bottles are definitely the easiest way to transport large amounts. It’s common knowledge that you can’t drink ocean water without dire consequences, and you definitely don’t want to end up thirsty enough to try it out for yourself.

Consider bringing about one and a half times what you think you’ll need for the day in case something happens. It might not always be necessary, but you’ll definitely be glad you planned ahead in the event of a misadventure.

You might want to use bigger bottles, rather than smaller ones since there won’t be as much waste plastic to dispose of once you get shoreside again.

#3. Swim Fins

Whether you’re planning on getting in the water or not, swim fins are a great idea to have on the boat with you. Most of us like to take a dip when we’re far enough out anyways, and fins allow for a great amount of mobility and speed you just won’t be able to achieve with your unadorned feet.

Use something good like Churchill Makapuu swim fins and you can enjoy being in the water as well as on top of it during your trip.

#4. Sun Glasses

When you’re out on the water, you might be surprised at just how much glare you can encounter. Boating Sunglasses are a great way to make sure you maintain maximum visibility. Wraparounds are even better since they’ll keep your eyes from getting squinty while you’re on deck.

Try not to go with too expensive of a pair, or at least invest in a lanyard in order to keep yourself from losing your investment, but you’ll find that they’re pretty much essential for enjoying your time in the sun and surf.

#5. Knife

As with pretty much anywhere, a knife is absolutely essential while you’re on your catamaran. The ocean’s rolling can make things a little bit difficult, though, and so it’s a wise idea to invest in a blade style that doesn’t have a needle tip.

Sheepshead blades or even diving knives with blunted tips are recommended in order to keep yourself from getting injured. If you’re planning on fishing they’re not the best option, though, so just be extra careful with your filet knives in that eventuality.

Whether you’re cutting rope or cleaning fish, a knife is always a handy thing to have and you won’t exactly be able to just go to the kitchen and grab one on your adventure.

With these items, you’ll have a lot of the basics covered, and people don’t always remember to grab them so you can be one step ahead of the game.
